Volunteer

There are so many opportunities for parents to participate and help. Whatever your availability, skills and interests, there’s bound to be something that suits…

Join a PTO Committee: The PTO has several committees staffed by dedicated parents and teachers, and we are happy to help you find the one(s) that suit your specific interests. Whatever your gender, working status, or ZIP code, there is a place in the PTO for you and we encourage you to please SIGN UP to help! To learn more about each event and committee click here

Be a Room Parent: Room parents help support the teachers in their classroom-based activities, including class parties, and help other class parents become involved. It’s a great way to get involved with your child’s classroom community, and one of the most direct and important ways the PTO helps to enhance and enrich our children’s experience at Angier. Signups for room parents will be coming in the next few weeks.

Help in the Library: One of the nicest places to spend time is in the library, the heart of Angier. If you are interested in volunteering in the library, please send an email to our library volunteer coordinators.

Don’t have much time? Can’t make it into Angier?
Don’t worry! If you’d like to help but can’t make it into the school, or only have a couple of hours spare at unpredictable moments, please email us – there are lots of things you can still help with!

CORI and SORI Background Checks
For the safety of our children, any parent or guardian who plans to chaperone Angier students on a field trip or volunteer in school when students are present must complete CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sexual Offender Registry Information) background checks.

Access the CORI and SORI forms online here, or pick them up from the School Office. After filling out the forms, bring them in person to the Angier School Office, along with a valid photo ID. Please allow at least two weeks for the background checks to be processed.

CORI and SORI background checks are valid for 3 years from the date of approval and are valid across all Newton Public Schools. If you are not sure whether yours is still valid, please call or email the Angier School Office.
