APRIL CELEBRATIONS & OBSERVANCES
We are committed to respectfully acknowledging a variety of celebrations and observances, ensuring that Angier is an inclusive and affirming space for the diverse identities and experiences of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate you sharing the holidays and celebrations that are meaningful to your family; you may continue to do so HERE.
During April, Angier families are observing a number of holidays. We wish you all a cheerful Passover, and we hope Songkran and Vishu bring renewal in the new year. May Easter / Orthodox Easter be refreshing and St. Jordi’s Day / La Diada de Sant Jordi consist of love. During Earth Day, consider taking time to appreciate our Earth.
April is also Arab American Month. The NPS Library Department has curated a selection of resources (Link: 2025 – Arab American Heritage Month), which includes a variety of materials including book recommendations, videos, music, and more to expand your knowledge about Arab Americans. CLASS PLACEMENT 2025-26
It’s hard to believe, but we are already looking ahead to the next school year. During the month of May, we will begin working on the new class lists. We ask that all families currently in grades K-4 whose children will not be returning to Angier next year to please let Claudia Rossi (rossicl@newton.k12.ma.us) know as soon as possible. This helps us plan with accuracy.
If you have information regarding your child’s placement for 2025-26 that you would like to share with our team and feel that we do not already know, please share it in THIS Optional Google Form by Sunday, April 27th. This is truly about additional information as teachers already have a rich supply of knowledge about your children.
NPS BUDGET RESOURCES & WAYS TO SUPPORT
We appreciate your ongoing support and engagement in the NPS budget process. Below are ways to continue to stay engaged:
1) Attend the upcoming City Council School Department Budget Meeting at 7pm on Thursday, April 17th at City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave).
2) Continue to write to the Mayor, Newton City Council, School Committee, and our Superintendent to share your views. During our Friday 4/11 meeting, Chris Brezski suggested highlighting two requests:
- Fund Dr. Nolin’s level services budget
- Ask the Mayor to allow the School Committee to decide how to use allocated funds in support of the schools.
- Mayor Ruthanne Fuller: rfuller@newtonma.gov
- Newton City Council: citycouncil@newtonma.gov
- NPS School Committee: schoolcommittee@newton.k12.ma.
us - NPS Superintendent Nolin: nolina@newton.k12.ma.us

NEWTON’S S.P.A.C.E CAMP
Newton’s S.P.A.C.E. is a four-week summer enrichment program run by the Newton Public Schools from July 7th through July 31st. This year, it will be held at Angier. Students entering kindergarten through 9th grade in the Fall of 2025 are eligible to attend. We offer two programs – an upper camp (entering 5th-9th grade) and a lower camp (entering kindergarten- 4th grade).
LOWER CAMP – Campers are assigned to age appropriate classes taught by two licensed teachers. Teachers create project-based activities that focus on the theme of the lower camp. Last summer, the theme was “Summer Olympics”. Campers learned about the history, countries, cultures, and sports of the Olympics. Lower Campers will also attend various specials throughout the week led by certified staff, which include Physical Education, Yoga/Mindfulness, Art and Science classes.
UPPER CAMP – Campers will create their own schedules by choosing from a variety of electives to design their own camp program. Elective choices include studio and digital arts, performing arts, athletics, STEM, music, and language arts classes.
