GREETINGS!

Dear Angier Families,

We are excited for our final week before vacation—along with even more snow in the forecast. We’ll be focused on learning, while having some snowy fun during recess. A reminder to please send your student with appropriate snow gear, including boots and snow pants.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Have a wonderful week ahead and a restful February break!

FEBRUARY CELEBRATIONS & OBSERVANCES

We are committed to respectfully acknowledging a variety of celebrations and observances, ensuring that Angier is an inclusive and affirming space for the diverse identities and experiences of our students, staff, and families. We appreciate you sharing the holidays and celebrations that are meaningful to your family; you may continue to do so HERE.

February is Black History Month. Although Black history is history, and we are committed to centering this work throughout the entire school year, the month of February provides an opportunity to amplify and celebrate Black and African American history. Each year, The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) establishes the theme for Black History Month. This year, the theme is “African Americans and Labor”. Please visit ASALH website to learn more. The Library Department has also curated a selection of resources to celebrate Black History Month..

February also brings several holidays that Angier families may be celebrating. We wish you a happy Lantern Festivala mindful Tu Bishvat, and a Valentine’s Day full of love. On President’s Daywe remember and honor our leaders throughout history.

ANGIER REPORT CARD – 2024

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. (See Report Card Quick Facts & Glossary for more information and a glossary about the school report card).

The report card includes information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities and more. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.

You will notice on our report card that Angier has again been identified as a School of Recognition, reflecting our progress toward meeting state accountability targets. To support our students’ academic growth and socioemotional wellbeing, we continue to implement a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) which addresses both academics and social-emotional learning (SEL). Teachers and instructional coaches routinely examine data and develop targeted action plans to support the learning of all students. This year, all Angier staff are engaging in professional learning about anti-ableism.

We see families as partners in the success of our students and our school, and we are grateful for your continued support. If you have questions about our school’s report card or would like to become involved in school improvement activities, please contact me. To see our district’s report card or to search for other schools’ report cards, visit reportcards.doe.mass.edu.
