This week at Angier

  • Sept. 23 – NO SCHOOL – Rosh Hashanah
  • Sept. 25 – Early release, 12:10pm

Dear Angier Families,

Hope you had a weekend so wonderful even your laundry felt grateful! After another jam-packed week at Angier, we’ll be amazed if nobody needs a nap during morning drop-off (but we may, so thanks for not judging).  We are wishing a happy and sweet new year to all celebrating Rosh Hashanah this week.

BINs ARE BACK
Did they really ever leave?  With the start of school, the BINS from last year’s Evening for Angier are in full swing!  A big thank you to Brigid Tobin and John Dempsey and Katherine and Chris Biotti for hosting their 4th Annual Italian Dinner.  FOMO?  Don’t worry, you will have plenty of opportunity in the spring to get your BINs on.

WELCOME NEW FAMILIES
We were absolutely delighted to spot so many new faces at Sunday’s playdate!  Thanks for swinging by and mixing it up with your soon-to-be lifelong friends. This is where the magic happens—right here at Angier—where “stranger” is just another word for “friend we haven’t had coffee with yet.”  We’re over the moon to officially welcome you into our wonderful community!

SAY CHEESE
Picture day brought out megawatt smiles—so bright, even sunglasses were jealous. Massive thanks to Sam Chused and Dave Nelson for lending a hand during the dazzling photoshoots! For those that missed this photo session or end up not loving their close-up, there will be a make-up day on November 10th. Practice those smiles! And Dave’s looking for a sidekick for next year’s photo extravaganza, so if you fancy yourself a child wrangler or a professional hair-fixer, holler at us.

PIZZA, PIZZA
Our annual pizza picnic was legendary! Angier families packed the lawn (even Bertie grabbed a slice) and let’s be honest—Dads totally brought their A-game. Shout-out to Mike Lucas, Jeff Steckmest, and Dave Nelson for orchestrating this cheesy masterpiece. If Dave were a pizza topping, he’d be extra cheese because he helped out TWICE in one week! We also want to thank all the other volunteers who jumped in to help out!

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Want to be a double-duty volunteer hero? Check out our sign-up genius for open volunteer spots—no cape required, just enthusiasm and maybe a snack for yourself. It’s a perfect chance to meet fellow Angierites and show off your community spirit. Got a wild idea? We’re all ears (and sometimes jazz hands), so bring it on!

TIME IN THE CLASSROOM
Being a room parent is basically like being a classroom celebrity—lots of love, minimal paparazzi. We still need superstar parents for kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. Step up and enjoy this fun opportunity to be in the classroom.

CHECK IT OFF!
Gentle reminder: Help us stock those classrooms and support our students! Bulk Supplies ($65/kid) are available for purchase—because glue sticks never survive the school year. Also please consider making a Classroom Fund Donations ($35/kid) help cover all the things teachers need Link here—click, donate, and bask in instant karma.

5TH GRADE FAMILIES
The 5th grade committee will be in touch soon.  As a reminder, room parents are not assigned to 5th grade classrooms. If you want to be on the 5th grade committee, sign up here!

DID I HEAR A WOOT?
We need another fun-loving volunteer to run the legendary teacher-treat cart on Friday, September 26th. Sign up and bring your favorite nut-free snacks (savory or sweet—just no mystery meat, please). Spend a magical hour delivering joy and snacks to our teachers. Basically, you’ll be the reason they smile all day. Get your “woot” on at the sign-up link!

BUDDY UP!
We are so excited to bring back our “Angier New Family Buddy” program! If you are interested in connecting with a Family that knows the “ropes” here at Anger or interested in being a buddy to a new family, please sign up here.

LAST CALL – UPDATE/VERIFY YOUR INFO IN THE ANGIER SCHOOL DIRECTORY
The PTO uses an online system, Membership Toolkit, to collect and share Angier family contact information.  This is a password protected Angier-only way for us to get in touch with our community. We ask that each family log into Membership Toolkit and review and update their information by September 30 so our directory is complete.

As always, we’re here as your Angier PTO team—available to help with any questions, or suggestions.

Warmly,

Katherine Biotti, Jessica Shahda & Michelle Sandals
