Dear Angier Families,
We hope everyone had a lovely weekend! It’s a busy time at Angier and we are so glad to see so many new and familiar faces in the community.
This weekend was a wrap on BINs (Buy-It-Now events) from last year’s An Evening for Angier! A huge thank you to Mo and Pieter Graham for stirring up cocktails at the Martini Masterclass BIN, and to Becky and Jon Bristol for making their return to Waban to host the Annual Grand Cru Tasting (and special shout out to Brigid Tobin and John Dempsey for housing the tasting).
And thank you to Nisha Subramanian and Aliya Kliener for providing our teachers with yummy treats at Friday’s Woot Woot Cart!
PICTURE RETAKE DAY
Picture retake day is tomorrow, November 10th. If you want to participate, please send your child in with the photo package you received after your first round of pictures.
SUPPORT WHERE IT’S NEEDED
Many in our community want to support families in need, so we’re launching two initiatives:
- Stocking the Newton Community Freedge – sign up here! Please reach out to the co-president team or Andrea Fong (andreabrie@gmail.com) with questions.
- Our annual holiday card drive for Angier families. Our school administrators will use this money to distribute gift cards to families facing hardship. This year we will also be supplying the Newton Food Pantry with a portion of funds raised.
COFFEE WITH SUPERINTENDENT ANNA NOLIN
Save the date for Thursday, November 20, at 8:20am for coffee with Superintendent Nolan, members of the School Committee, and Dr. H.
ANGIER COAT DRIVE
We are also bringing back the annual Angier coat drive. From November 10–21, we’ll be collecting gently used kids’ and adult coats in a drop-off box located in the foyer near the Angier cafetorium. Please consider donating coats you no longer use—Anton’s will clean all donated items and ensure they reach individuals and families in need.
PJS & PANCAKES
Join us for Angier’s annual PJs & Pancakes breakfast on Saturday, November 15, 8–11 AM in the Angier cafeteria—pancake breakfast, no need to change out of your PJs, and a special appearance this year by Angier’s own fifth grade band, No Smoking, from 10-11am! Tickets are $5 each from now to November 13 ($25 max per family) or $7 at the door. Get tickets here!
We still need volunteers, especially for ticket sales/check-in that morning. It’s an easy, short shift and makes the event run smoothly. Please sign up to help if you can.
COMMUNITY NOTES AND OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
- 5th Grade Committee: The fifth-grade committee works to support our fifth graders by raising funds for all the special 5th grade opportunities, including a yearbook, end-of-year festivities, commemorative gear, and teacher gifts and class gifts to the school. For fifth grade families that would like to contribute and learn more, click here.
- Fun Fridays: If you’re still looking for ways to get involved, we’re looking for volunteers to plan some “Fun Friday” activities—movie night, bingo night, or anything else you might have in mind! Please consider volunteering.
- Library: Help our amazing library Ms. Donovan keep the library stocked and organized—and get a chance to see your kid during the school day! If you’d like to volunteer, fill out this Google Doc. Please reach out to librarycoordinator@angierpto.org with any questions.
- Lost and found: The lost and found (at the bottom of the center stairs) is overflowing! Please check to see if there are any items belonging to your family.
- Bulk Supplies & Classroom Funds: If you have not yet contributed to bulk supplies (which pays for all of our kids’ school supplies) and classroom funds (which supports class parties and teacher gifts), please do so below.
- Bulk Supplies (K-5)
- Classroom Funds (K-4; 5th grade families see above for 5th grade committee info)
As always, we’re here as your Angier PTO team—available to help with any questions
or suggestions.
Warmly,
Katherine, Jessica & Michelle
