Newton’s Celebration of Queer Culture
Celebration of Queer Culture (CQC) is a city-wide, youth-focused Pride event focused on highlighting and providing education for parts of queer culture (specifically queer history, art, music, and intersectionality) that are usually erased or taken out of the spotlight. Created by Rhiannon Esposito and Julia Dun Rappaport, two queer high-school students, we achieve this through a queer history segment, panel highlighting the intersectionality of local queer high schoolers (touching on race, ethnicity, religion, and family make up), queer art display, an art activity, live music, and more! We will also have a separate space with an art activity for younger kids, as well as a resource fair with queer-centered community organizations. This year, CQC will take place on June 15, 2024 at Newton City Hall. For more information and the event layout, check out our website, Instagram (@cqc_newton), or contact us at rhiespo@gmail.com and julia.elizabeth.dun.rappaport@gmail.com. We hope to see you at Celebration of Queer Culture ‘24!

Newton Schools Foundation

LOOKING FOR A GREAT WAY TO THANK A TEACHER OR SCHOOL STAFF MEMBER DURING TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK?

Newton Schools Foundation Honor Thy Teacher program enables families to pay tribute to teachers and school staff by making a gift to Newton Schools Foundation in their name.  It’s a great way to show your appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6 – May 10) or at any time until the end of the school year, while adhering to the Newton Public School’s teacher gift policy.

A donation to Newton Schools Foundation will support grants that fund new approaches in the classroom, professional development for teachers, and programs that promote equity for all students.  To learn more about the programs NSF funds, see our Impact page.

Say Thank You! to the teachers and staff members who have made a difference for your students. Now more than ever, show your appreciation by making a gift in their honor to NSF’s Honor Thy Teacher campaign.  The teachers are thrilled to receive this honor, as you can see in the slide show here.

Find out more and donate on the NSF website, scan the QR code, or mail your donation to Newton Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 590020, Newton Centre, MA 02459.  (Please be sure to include the name(s) of your child(ren) and the names of the teacher(s) and/or staff you are honoring and their schools).
