Kindergarten Registration

We look forward to welcoming you and your kindergartener to Angier for their first school year! Here’s how the official registration process works:

  1. In mid-December, a mailing is sent to all families identified through the Newton City Census as having a child of age to enter kindergarten in the next school year. If you received the mailing, please complete and return the postcard to Angier. If you are new to Newton or do not receive the mailing by the end of December, please contact the Angier office at 617-559-9300.
  2. If your family is new to Newton Public Schools, plan to attend a district-wide Kindergarten Information Night. Find more information about this here.
*Please note: If you are a returning family and have already been through the Kindergarten registration process for older children, you are welcome to attend. However, you may find the information repetitive and not as useful.
  3. Review district-wide kindergarten information and download the required registration forms from here.
  4. Beginning in January, parents may contact the Angier office at 617-559-9300 to schedule a screening appointment for your incoming kindergartener. Screening appointments will be offered at Angier across multiple dates. At this visit, your child will individually meet with one of the Angier teachers, while parents will meet with various staff members to review and submit all required paperwork and forms.
  5. A playdate for all incoming kindergarteners will be held. All registered kindergartners will be notified of their assigned time to visit Angier with a parent or caregiver. While the children spend an hour playing together supervised by Angier’s kindergarten teachers, parents/caregivers will meet with Angier’s Principal Orla Higgins Averill as well as other staff members and PTO representatives in an informal, group setting. This is a wonderful opportunity to get all questions about kindergarten and Angier, big or small, answered!
